Sunday 20th May 11.30-12.30pm: Maureen and Adrian’s house in central West Bridgford. A solid wall 1920′s house that has been externally insulated on 3 sides with 100mm Phenolic boards and rendered. (Other improvements such as draught-proofing and floor insulation have also been carried out). Well worth a visit if you are interested in insulation of solid wall homes
Sunday 20th May 1-2pm and 2-3pm: David’s house, built in the last 10 years or so, has better insulated cavities than most, and features a range of renewable technologies including PV panels to generate electricity, a ground source heat pump and sunboxes which improve the efficiency of the heat pump. Well worth a visit if you are interested in renewable energy.
Sunday 27th May 2-3pm and 3-4pm: Tina’s house, built in 1950 and now in mid-refurbishment to become an ultra low energy home (hopefully a Passivhaus). Other features include super-insulated floor and roof, highly insulated windows, lots of cold-bridge detailing, air-tightness and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.
As ever, check out http://www.wbecohouses.co.uk/ for further information including links to other websites about David’s house and Tina’s house. There is even a short youtube film of Gil on his roof, if you have not seen it already.
