Arboreal Architecture Win CIBSE Project of the Year – Residential, with Clapham Retrofit

Listed Building Retrofitted to AECB Silver Performance Standard Wins National Award

Congratulations to AECB Members, Arboreal for winning this national award with their Clapham Retrofit project. The 170 year old Grade II listed Victorian townhouse underwent a ‘deep’ retrofit to become the first listed building to meet the AECB Silver Performance standard.

The award recognises the new build or refurbishment of a building in the residential sector that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort whilst delivering outstanding measured building performance.

As the first listed building in England to meet the AECB Silver Performance Standard the measured actual gas energy use for the year from January 2014 (9146kWh) was under the predicted energy demand. The building performance has been actively monitored through energy bills (gas use), solar thermal energy generation and wireless sensors monitoring temperature, humidity and moisture in 22 locations around the building.
