Holm Place Hampshire

Designed by OB Architecture and completed in 2017, Holm Place in Hampshire featured in Grand Designs magazine and was short-listed for the 2018 RICS Awards. It has rightly been recognised for its outstanding architectural design and beauty. Set in a conservation area, the design and materials used for Claire Jordan’s new contemporary property reflect those of the Grade 2 listed house within the grounds of which Holm Place is set.

A combination of timber, brick, zinc and off white render, as well as extensive use of glass, blur the lines between the inside of the four bedroomed two storey house and the outside world. Indeed, the glazing is a key design feature, with the first floor master bedroomsuite featuring full height glass on three sides. The property’s east, south and west aspects ensure the sun is on the windows all day and internal temperatures can reach 28 degrees C due to heat gain, even when it is just 20 degrees C outside.

Glass House Wellness Retreat Essex

The new Glass House Retreat in Essex is a purpose-built detox and wellness centre that has benefited from  Air Craft’s in-depth knowledge of how to provide the highest levels of indoor air comfort with sustainable and energy efficient HVAC technology. The company’s integrated solution has included air conditioning, heat recovery and ventilation systems, renewable solar PV technology, a Ground Source Heat Pump, small duct heating and cooling technology as well as underfloor heating .

From the start of the project  Air Craft worked closely with the project’s  M&E Consultants to ensure that the building would meet the performance conditions of the BREEAM code that sets the highest standards within the sustainable built environment. As a result, the Glass House Retreat was classified on completion as an  A certified building with a near net zero CO2 emissions standard.

Heatherdene New Forest Hampshire

One of the advantages of the Invisible.AC small duct high velocity air conditioning system is its extremely quiet operation and completely unobtrusive design. For owners of residential properties looking to renovate their existing homes, the system is the ideal solution as it can match any interior decor thanks to its “invisibility”. When Air Craft were approached to design a cooling solution to counter high solar heat gain in a renovated home in the New Forest, Invisible.AC was their technology choice.

The striking architect designed renovation features a single storey extension and vast floor to apex glazing to the front of the property. This provides stunning views across the New Forest, bringing the outside in, but it was recognised that the glazing would lead to significant heat gain within the home. This could result in potentially uncomfortably warm interior temperatures, especially during the summer months.
