MVHR extract placement in a kitchen

Hi all, we are currently looking at our passive house/retro fit design.  I understood that the extract in the kitchen had to avoid being close to the hob to avoid oils going into MVHR but does any one have a suitable distance?  We will have a separate extract above the hob going directly outside.  Many thanks Angela
