Introducing our Latest AECB Members

Welcome New AECB Members!

This month we gave our new members the chance to introduce themselves;

Cowan Architects – West Sussex
Pickering House East elevationEstablished in 1983, Cowan Architects offers innovative design solutions coupled with personal service. They work throughout the UK across many sectors with project values ranging from £100k to £10m. This March saw the launch of Cowan Eco Design, headed by Mark Elton and focusing on sustainable design and Passivhaus projects as well as low carbon retrofit. Mark is a long standing member of the AECB having been both an individual member or a representative of previous practices for many years. He recognises the AECB’s value in sharing best practice expertise, developing rigorous analysis of key ecological building issues and offering discussion platforms free from any particular agenda other than reporting the practical realities. The AECB Conference is one of the highlights of the year and a great place to refine ideas about building. Mark hopes that the whole team at Cowan Architects will benefit from the AECB’s knowledge, resources and continually questioning attitude.

Esmond Tresidder at Lean Green Consulting – Derbyshire
Es is a consultant specialising in low-energy building design optimisation and Passivhaus design. His work applies powerful methods developed during his PhD to search for optimal designs. These methods literally evolve building designs towards optimal solutions and allows designers to establish strategies that offer the best trade-off between conflicting objectives such as cost, CO2 emissions, overheating risk, daylighting and embodied energy. He recently qualified as a Passivhaus designer and would like to combine these two areas of expertise in future work. Es became an AECB member in order to access  both a wide body of knowledge and an audience of people who might be interested in his services.
