JOB OPPORTUNITY: Senior Building Physics Consultant for Greengauge

Senior Building Physics Consultant
Greengauge Building Energy Consultants
Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire

Closing date for application:
18th September 2020

We are a young and energetic business with a passion for sustainable buildings that are simple and robust. We harness science and technology to stay on the bleeding edge of efficiency in buildings. Everyone at Greengauge is constantly learning, via formal training, internal discussion, and a variety of exciting projects. We love an unusual challenge, because we learn so much. Our tight-knit team are constantly sharing ideas and inspiration, problems and solutions. We endeavour to collaborate across disciplines, both internally and with other organisations, to deliver great outcomes for our clients.

We are looking for a Building Physicist with at least 5 years experience who shares our passion.

Your role will be to work with our Engineering and Physics team in the day to day running of our Projects. You will be a creative problem solver and with a talent for managing people and projects. You will have at least 5 years directly relevant experience with at least 1 years experience running and managing projects and people. You will have demonstrable experience independently running projects from fee proposals, early stage design development through to providing the necessary support whilst projects are onsite, working with team members and other consultants. You will have excellent IT skills including excel, word etc. You will have outstanding communication skills to work with other members of the design team and our Clients, you will be self-motivated, and have desire to learn.

You will hold a Passivhaus Consultant/Designer accreditation, and/or have led the Certification of a number of projects. We will consider outstanding candidates who do not already have the Passivhaus designer or consultant accreditation. The ideal candidate will have experience with SAP, IES or similar dynamic simulation tools. Experience of Passivhaus Design of larger, complex, multi-residential or non-residential schemes would be preferable, as would experience with thermal bridge analysis, moisture simulation and the Low Carbon Energy Assessor accreditation.

You will have a good knowledge of the Building Regulations in particular Part L. You will have a good understanding of other guidance and compliance targets such as CIBSE TM52/59 and BB101 for example. You will also be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of building services design and its importance in the Passivhaus context.

At times it can be hard graft. If the deadlines all come together, you will be expected to roll your sleeves up. But we operate a flexi-time system so you can kick back when you need to, and we operate a profit share scheme for loyal employees. In return, you will get to be part of an exciting, growing business where no two days are the same. We will invest in your skills and knowledge and help you achieve your ambitions. You will be offered an ethical pension to which we will contribute. Our new home working policy is under development; you will be able to work from home much of the time but be required to work in the office occasionally, including an intensive ‘settling in period’ from the outset.
