The Low Energy Buildings Database – showcase your projects here!

An opportunity to add your low energy building project to this growing database.

Everyone likes good news so make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to boost your low energy credentials. Tell everyone how successful your low energy building project has been and how it’s keeping you or your client warm and snug, with low heating and power bills.

The AECB holds information on over 200 low energy projects (new builds and retrofits) on the Low Energy Buildings Database (LEBD). It is an online resource at http://www.lowenergybuildings.org.uk Anyone can view the database for free to learn about real projects and how they turned out, so it is your chance to show off and stand out from the crowd.

Every project has its story, and we’d love to read right through to the final page. Did your project have a “happy, energy efficient ending” and the occupants live comfortably and happily ever after? If you already have one or more your projects on the database, congratulations and thank you for putting it up there! If you haven’t, please consider adding your new energy efficient project. For each project, there is room for contact details, a description, pictures of the project and lots of performance data, so it’s a good opportunity to market your success.

CarbonLite Retrofit LogoWe believe, from the enthusiasm of those who have recently signed up to take – or already successfully passed – the CarbonLite Retrofit online training course, that there’s a steadily growing interest in ambitious low energy, healthy and hi-comfort retrofit projects. All CarbonLite Retrofit students are encouraged to make the most of the LEBD as they work through the course. These students (and also property owners looking for architects or consultants) will use the LEBD to learn about retrofit and to identify those who are leading the way. So it makes great business sense to ensure that your project(s) look good and demonstrate what you have achieved.

Please don’t stop there! To make this amazing resource even more useful, we are inviting everyone who has a project on the LEB website to check it and, if possible, update it. The hope is that in time every entry will be the showcase for a project with a useful level of detail. Entries describe projects from the initial plans through to details of the completed construction and post-occupancy energy use (as a minimum – the energy consumed in a 12 month period). There are also lots of great images.

For those working in the world of low energy buildings, there is so much to be gained from understanding how projects achieve high standards, and the real life challenges that sometimes have to be overcome to get there.

If you have a project that you’d like to put on the LEB website, we’d like to have it there! Just go to the LEBD home page and create an account (or log in if you already have one).

We look forward to seeing your projects!
