The Green Register is delighted to be launching a new series of events starting in Autumn 2021. On the second Monday of each month from 5-6pm, we’ll be running Twilight Talks – a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics. Each one-hour event will be FREE of charge and feature short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation.
On 13th September, we kick off with Futuregrid. A rapid increase in the use of electric vehicles (EVs) is predicted over the next few decades and we’ll be asking:
- How will the use of EVs impact upon the electricity supply to our homes and non-domestic buildings?
- What will the key changes and improvements to urban design and infrastructure be?
- How will EVs affect our future lifestyles?
With a focus on the Southwest region, we’ll be learning about how local authorities and utility companies are planning to support the increased use of EVs.
From Western Power, we’ll hear about adapting the grid and its potential for local and micro-delivery. Bristol City Council will offer a snapshot on infrastructure plans for the city and electrical contractor Ben Pearson will outline upcoming changes plus the preparations designers and installers will need to make as we move towards a greener grid.
There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and Q&A after each presentation and at the end of the session.
