The AECB Greater Manchester group brings together like minded construction industry professionals in the region within a supportive and progressive environment. There will be opportunities to learn, network and share ideas across a range of topics, all with the aim of furthering our knowledge and skills in environmentally conscious construction. The local group recently formed in April 2024 and is establishing its roots in the local area. Hannah Dixon is the founder of Progress in Practice, a small architecture practice in Greater Manchester specialising in Passivhaus and low energy homes and buildings. The practice delivered the first two AECB certified retrofit projects in Greater Manchester in 2023 and are advocates for the Passivhaus and AECB approach. Hannah is passionate about inclusivity in design and sits on the board of the GM Community Led Homes hub.

Dr. Angela Connelly is the Manchester School of Architecture’s Sustainability Lead, with responsibility for overseeing changes in sustainability education for architects, landscape architects, and urbanists. Her research work examines the adaptation of the built environment to extreme weather events such as overheating and flood risk, and how this dovetails with energy efficient retrofits.
