The AECB CarbonLite™ Standards - an intro

Why do we work to Standards?

The AECB works with our members to inspire, develop and share sustainable building practice. Our Standards are a key pillar of the deployment of environmentally responsible building practices and the creation of sustainable low energy, low carbon buildings.

Our AECB CarbonLite™ Standards

The AECB has several Standards that each give building professionals and homeowners alike flexibility in helping the country to reach net zero targets. These are supplemented with further building guidance on Water, Airtightness and Daylighting.

What is CarbonLite?

A brief look into what CarbonLite means and how these Standards can be used to create low carbon, energy efficient buildings that are comfortable and healthy.

Ecology Building Society Mortgage Discounts

AECB CarbonLite Certified homes can receive discounted mortgages with the Ecology Building Society.

C-Change Discounts

With an Ecology mortgage you can save up to 1.50% on our standard variable rate.  Our C-Change discounts reward you for creating an energy-efficient home. So, not only can you enjoy reduced energy bills while shrinking your carbon footprint, you can get a lower rate on your mortgage, too.

Housing accounts for a significant amount of the UK’s carbon emissions. To help combat climate change, we have developed our innovative C-Change mortgage discounts.

These discounts reduce your mortgage interest rate based on the energy efficiency of your property and are applied for the lifetime of your mortgage with us. Any discount for which you’re eligible will be applied upon completion of your project.

Passivhaus Trust

The AECB set up the Passivhaus Trust in 2010 to take responsibility for promotion and deployment of the Passivhaus Standard in the UK.  Our AECB CarbonLite Standards compliment this by also using Passive House methodology to guarantee achievable and affordable low energy and low carbon buildings.
