We are very glad to announce that our AECB CarbonLite™ Retrofit Coordination course has become part of a partially funded programme for those who reside in England to gain a Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Assessment, in order to become an accredited Retrofit Coordinator. This limited opportunity involves a two-phase approach, with our course as the first phase, and then an independent accreditation phase following completion of our course.
This advanced retrofit training has been developed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the PAS 2035 process. Become proficient in risk averse retrofit processes and offer your clients better retrofit projects.
This is a time limited opportunity. The course must be completed within the timeframe provided by the funders, as stated by Synergy Training Centre.

I am very impressed with both the AECB CarbonLite course and RPL process to become a qualified PAS 2035 Retrofit Coordinator. The course is in-depth and rich in knowledge, and delivered professionally by the AECB and Synergy. I definitely recommend to other retrofit learners!
PAS 2035:2035+A1:2022 was sponsored by the UK Government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This is the key document in a framework of new and existing standards on how to conduct effective energy retrofits of existing buildings, it covers how to access dwellings for retrofit, identify improvement options, design and specify Energy Efficiency Measures (EEM) and monitor retrofit projects.
The standard drives the 'whole house approach' including the 'fabric first' methodology. It defines the qualifications and responsibilities of individual retrofit roles and respective activities required prior to and post EEM installation. It includes a risk assessment process that builds incrementally robust requirements depending on what requirement path (A, B, or C) the retrofit project is assessed to fall within.
The PAS 2035 framework needs to be followed to draw down specific government funding for retrofit projects. It stipulates that Retrofit Coordinators need to register with TrustMark to be able to Coordinate such funded projects. The management of the project must be compliant with the PAS 2035 and its requirements; subject to the transition arrangements outlined below.
PAS 2035 is inextricably linked to PAS 2030:2019+A1:2022 (for installers), the new industry specification to replace PAS 2030:2017 and is the standard to which all energy efficiency installers must be certified and compliant.
The current Technical Author for the 2022 and 2023 updates of the PAS2035 document is Dr Sarah Price. Sarah is also one of the writers of our Retrofit Coordinator course.
If you scroll down this page, you can watch a discussion about the importance of PAS2035.
The funding route is aimed at professionals in the construction industry; built environment and those involved in the energy efficiency sector who need to understand how the PAS 2035 framework impacts on their projects and for those who may need be accredited as a Retrofit Coordinator in order to project manage publically funded retrofit projects.
Really impressed with the RPL, particularly Synergy Training Centre who has helped to “operationalise” the learning into something you could use with tools like RdSAP, ECOSurv and the Trustmark portal.
Pilot RPL accreditation phase student feedback
The independent Recognised Prior Learning accreditation phase offers the benefit of:
- Bespoke tutoring according to your past background/experience
- Some flexibility with when the live tutoring takes place and how long the sessions are
- Small class sizes enabling more tutor interaction and quicker progress
