The AECB Carbon Calculator calculates Whole Life Carbon, that is embodied and operational CO2 from Cradle to Grave. It’s written by Tim Martel who has worked as a Certified Passivhaus Designer for 10 years, formerly a Chartered Architectural Technologist, a course tutor for the AECB CarbonLite™ Retrofit Foundation course, and AECB software R&D lead and developer.
This stand-alone calculator does not need PHPP to operate.

Upon purchase an e-mail which will be sent to you (within 2 working days) containing instructions on how to verify your sale, obtain a licence key for use and access the CO2 Calc.
An annual subscription gives you access to continual updates of the AECB Carbon Calculator. Each year about 200 Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are replaced, the National Grid’s Future Energy Scenarios are updated, government CO2 factors are updated and improvements are made to the usability and new standards, such as the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard (pilot). An annual subscription allows us to keep all these changes up to date.
The first year’s subscription fee is included in the purchase price.
Upon the anniversary of your product purchase you will receive a request/invoice to pay the yearly subscription fee.

The AECB CO2 Calc covers the whole life stages A-C (and D where information is available).
This therefore includes :
Stage A, A1-A3 Manufacture including A4 Transport to site and A5 Construction
Stage B, Use of the building including B4 Replacement
Stage C, Demolition and Disposal of the building
And quoted separately Stage D, Reuse, Recycling potential (outside the usual scope of the main calculation). It calculates the credit from reuse of an element, assembled part such as a frame, or something that is reused offsite.
The Carbon Calculator is also suitable for initial estimates for the RIBA 2030 Challenge v2 and LETI (Low Energy Transformation Initiative).
