Post: NSBRC New Retrofit Zone

NSBRC New Retrofit Zone

The NSBRC in Swindon has opened a new Retrofit Zone which the AECB was pleased to contribute to through providing advice on our CarbonLite Building Standards.  Samantha Musty attended the launch event on Friday 7th November along with several AECB members to support this important initiative.

The Retrofit Zone was opened by MP Sarah Gibson who as a qualified architect spoke eloquently on the need to update the country’s housing stock.

AECB members Ecological Building Systems and Eco Design Consultants have supported the development of the zone and were on hand to talk to guests and show them around the exhibits, which are based on cutaways of several building archetypes.

The Retrofit Standards exhibit features an introduction to AECB CarbonLite and Enerphit standards with an easy to understand “jargon busting” approach.  It is complemented by a video in which Alan Budden from EDC talks through the key issues and presents our standards as a rigorous quality check which provides assurance on retrofit projects.

We can thoroughly recommend a visit and look forward to supporting the NSBRC in the development of this important educational exhibit.
