PHribbon 7.01

AECB PHribbon extends PHPP beyond energy performance.

There is a separate page for a detailed description of the PHribbon here

This new restricted access version is quite substantially updated, see parts in green below. It is available free to AECB members, participants of our PHPP course (and to PHT members).

  • Climate helps you select the climate region from a map. Added to the map the climate stations for regions with multiple stations (e.g. Highlands has 4), this allows you to choose your nearest climate station visually
  • U-values a library of 150 assemblies and a library of λ values. Updated lambda values from PHPP, BRE BR443(2019), from EPDs, data sheets and other sources, updated timber fraction calculation rules/notes from BRE BR443(2019), ensure formulas are copied over. Button now opens the webpage in the ref column. Timber fraction methodology in the previous version were based on BR443 (2005), now obsolete.
  • Orientation creates a master cell to allow you to rotate the building, draws the outline of your building
  • Check PHPP a checklist which guides you through your PHPP, helping you check or record answers
  • Windows enters the figures required in the windows sheet and the d-reveal, using full window method (PHPPv10)
  • D Reveal enters the PHPPv10 d-reveal where there is cover, using full window method (PHPPv10)
  • Components an easy place to store and enter a master list of your Window glazings and window frames.  Updated with much more recent data
  • Window Pane button: in addition to the main Window button which enters entire windows in one row, this smaller button may be useful for those who prefer the original method of entering windows one pane per row, (as in DesignPH).
  • D-Reveal Pane this smaller button works out the d-reveal for windows entered using the original method, one pane per row, (as in DesignPH).

Further information

Microsoft have had the facility to add custom buttons on a ribbon (toolbar) in Excel for some time. Tim Martel and the AECB have teamed up to create one for PHPP which speeds up common tasks and extends what PHPP can do. No special PHPP is needed. It is designed for PHPP v10 and most buttons (apart from windows and d-reveal) are also compatible with earlier versions of PHPP: 9.6, 9.3, 9.1 and 8.5. You can also use it with PHPPs created by designPH.
