Prince & Gisbey Architects Ltd
Prince and Gisbey Architects is a Kent based architecture practice, founded in 2019 by Ben Prince and Matthew Gisbey. P&G Architects take a relationship centred and collaborative approach to working with clients, to create tailored, thoughtful solutions for every project. We know no two projects are the same, and are here to guide you through every stage, from design to planning and construction. Ben and Matt have 25 years of combined experience. They qualified as architects with first class honours at the University of Kent, close to where their practise is based, in Whitstable. They also hold diplomas in Management, Practice & Law from Brighton University. Before co-founding the practice, Ben was an Associate at an award-winning architecture firm. His work here spanned medium and large scale residential, heritage, commercial, community/leisure and educational projects. Their wide focus and interdisciplinary approach means Ben has a breadth of knowledge and technical expertise and has worked with a range of clients, with different requirements and budgets. Matt’s experience includes five years at an AJ100 international practice specialising in conservation architecture. His portfolio includes major projects at the Houses of Parliament and the Royal Courts of Justice. Matt also has significant experience in designing for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) schools, a topic for which he has both expertise and a personal passion. As Prince and Gisbey Architects, Ben and Matt put this experience to use on a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, educational, and historic buildings, while specialising in small to medium sized domestic projects. These include new builds, developer housing, listed building updates, extensions, and space reconfigurations. Our style is a contemporary interpretation of traditional British architecture, but ultimately reflects the setting and the client. We know that getting the design just right is crucial and offer virtual 3D walkthroughs of your future home or project so you can be sure the design works perfectly for you before getting started. We pride ourselves on finding ways to bring your ideas to life, no matter the constraints. Our track record includes securing planning permission for challenging projects, including listed buildings, and designing for the most intricate and constrained sites.

Proposal for a contemporary glazed pavilion extension to a Grade II listed building in the small hamlet of Frogholt just outside of Folkestone. The addition will become the clients garden room from where they can enjoy panoramic views of the well established and rich landscaped surroundings. Prince & Gisbey Architects were appointed following a negative pre-application where a more traditional oak frame proposal was put in front of the Local Authority. We undertook a Heritage Impact Assessment that enabled us to establish that the location, form and style of proposal would have no negative impact on the existing building and importantly the local area and neighbouring historic buildings.
