Founded five years ago, EP Architects is a design-led architectural practice operating across the South of England, with a strong track record in the delivery of high-performance, low-energy and regenerative buildings across both the public and private sectors. Our work is centred on the intelligent reuse and retrofit of existing buildings, alongside carefully considered new interventions that respond to context, carbon, and long-term environmental performance. We specialise in a fabric-first approach, applying rigorous building physics principles from the earliest project stages to minimise energy demand, optimise thermal comfort, and ensure robust, buildable solutions. Our in-house capability includes qualified Building Physicists and Certified Passive House Designers, enabling us to lead projects aligned with both Passivhaus Standard and EnerPHit methodologies. Our particular expertise lies in the retrofit, repurposing, and regenerative upgrade of existing and heritage assets, where we balance performance improvement with conservation sensitivity. We have extensive experience working with traditionally constructed buildings, applying breathable, compatible materials and upgrade strategies that respect historic fabric while delivering measurable improvements in energy performance, resilience, and occupant wellbeing. EP Architects provides a comprehensive architectural service, guiding clients through feasibility, planning, technical design, and delivery. We are experienced in navigating complex planning environments, including listed buildings and conservation contexts, and in coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, performance-driven outcomes. We work closely with clients to develop whole-life, evidence-based and regenerative design strategies, advising on capital cost, operational energy, embodied carbon, and long-term value. Our approach prioritises simplicity, buildability, and durability—ensuring that sustainability and regenerative ambitions are realised in practice, not just in principle. Collaboration is fundamental to how we operate. We maintain strong relationships with specialist consultants, contractors, and local craftspeople, enabling us to deliver projects that combine technical rigour with high-quality construction. With deep expertise in sustainable construction, retrofit strategy, and building performance, EP Architects is committed to delivering architecture that is measurably efficient, environmentally restorative, contextually responsive, and enduring in value.

Our portfolio showcases a diverse body of work across the public and private sectors, with a particular focus on deep retrofit, heritage regeneration, and high-performance new build. Projects range from the sensitive refurbishment and repurposing of historic assets to the delivery of low-energy, regenerative buildings designed to meet ambitious environmental targets. A significant proportion of our work is centred on existing buildings, where we apply a fabric-first methodology and building physics-led design to unlock performance improvements while respecting architectural character and material integrity. This includes projects aligned with EnerPHit principles, as well as carefully integrated interventions within listed and conservation contexts. Our new build projects demonstrate our capability in delivering Passivhaus Standard-level performance, with a strong emphasis on simplicity, buildability, and long-term operational efficiency. Across all projects, we prioritise low embodied carbon, the use of natural and locally sourced materials, and solutions that enhance occupant wellbeing and environmental resilience. The portfolio also reflects our experience in education, community, and civic buildings, alongside private residential projects, illustrating our ability to respond to varying client needs, funding structures, and delivery frameworks. Through each project, we demonstrate a consistent approach: evidence-based design, technical rigour, and a commitment to delivering buildings that perform as intended—both in terms of energy and their wider social and environmental value.
