A low energy and low carbon buildings consultant and Certified Passivhaus Designer with an MSc in Green Building from the Centre for Alternative Technology. Offering a range of services aimed at exploiting the potential of building and retrofitting to Passivhaus standard using natural organic materials where possible, to create low energy and low carbon buildings which minimise running costs, lower carbon impact and improve occupant’s comfort, health, and well-being. Certified Passivhaus Design – – Energy balance – energy modelling using Passivhaus Planning Package Modelling (PHPP) – Envelope design – materials/fabric, airtightness, thermal bridges, thermography, windows and doors specification, shading and solar gain – Services specification – ventilation, heating, cooling, MVHR – Energy provision – renewables and grid – New build and retrofit of existing buildings Building Performance and Low Energy/ Carbon Design – – Building Physics Analysis – Heat and energy transfers, ventilation, airtightness, condensation, moisture movements, thermal mass, U-value calculations, thermal bridging, building monitoring and evaluation – Energy modelling and building code compliance Embodied Carbon Life Cycle Analysis – – Stage A1 through to stage D – Materials sourcing and selection considering low carbon, service life, durability, and longevity – Analysis via One Click LCA Circular Building Design – – Circular design and construction practices and implementation, the 5 R’s principle – Design for local sourcing, minimal waste, durability, adaptability, disassembly, design as a material bank, following building in layers principle Selection and use of Natural, Organic Materials in Fabric Design – – Environmental appraisal for climate, nature, social, health, toxicity, end of life impact – Sustainability future potential analysis for in use performance, carbon storage and ecosystem regeneration – Low carbon construction details using green materials Sustainability and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy – – Carbon accounting and reporting – scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, drivers, standards, and frameworks – Product life cycle assessment (LCA) – Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) – Atmospheric carbon reduction – Water security and waste – Food security – Transportation – Energy provision – Economics and non-growth – Population growth and migration – Systems thinking and behaviour change – Cities and communities strategies for well-being – Effectiveness of the EPC in driving home energy efficiency upgrade.
