Marrons
At Marrons, our Architects provide integrated planning, architectural design and technical consultancy across a wide range of project types and scales, working from multiple locations across England. We take a collaborative approach to complex sites with multiple constraints, supported by an in-house planning and heritage team with extensive experience in listed buildings, conservation areas and sensitive historic contexts. A significant focus of our work is the retrofit and improvement of existing buildings, with particular expertise in fabric-first design and low-energy refurbishment. Our approach is informed by Passivhaus and EnerPHit principles, alongside AECB and LETI guidance, enabling us to tailor strategies to the building, budget and project ambitions rather than applying a single prescriptive standard. We support clients from early feasibility and planning strategy through to detailed design and delivery, embedding energy performance, comfort, moisture safety and buildability from the outset. Our portfolio includes bespoke homes, high-quality residential developments, retrofit and adaptive reuse of existing buildings and brownfield sites, as well as work to listed buildings and heritage assets, where performance upgrades must be carefully balanced with historic significance. We place strong emphasis on measured and evidence-based performance, integrating energy modelling (PHPP), airtightness strategies, ventilation design and low-carbon technologies as part of a coordinated architectural process. We are also experienced in planning and heritage negotiation, working constructively with local authorities and stakeholders to unlock the full potential of sites and buildings while respecting their cultural, architectural and environmental value. Our approach is collaborative, technically rigorous and design-led, delivering buildings that are comfortable, durable, low-energy and future-ready.

Our portfolio spans a wide range of residential, mixed-use and adaptive reuse projects, from bespoke home extensions and housing developments to the conversion and reuse of complex heritage and commercial buildings. Across all scales, our work is characterised by a careful balance between architectural quality, contextual response and technical rigour. A significant proportion of our projects involve working with existing buildings, including listed and locally listed assets within conservation areas, where heritage significance, planning constraints and viability considerations must be carefully negotiated. We regularly undertake heritage-led appraisals and feasibility studies, using these to inform sensitive design strategies that unlock development potential while preserving character and significance. Our residential work ranges from family homes and extensions to larger housing schemes, where placemaking, landscape integration and amenity provision are central to the design approach. Projects are developed through close collaboration with clients and stakeholders, ensuring proposals respond to evolving needs while remaining robust in planning terms. Sustainability is embedded throughout the portfolio, with a strong emphasis on reuse, fabric-first principles and long-term performance. Several projects explore innovative construction approaches, including modular and container-based structures, alongside low-energy envelopes, recycled materials and high-quality internal environments. Across all projects, we take a planning-led, design-focused approach, combining architectural clarity with technical and regulatory expertise to deliver buildings that are contextual, adaptable and future-ready.
