Post: Whole House Renovation with Extension — Formby, Merseyside

We recently completed a full whole house renovation and extension in Formby, and we are pleased to share it with the AECB community.

This project was a comprehensive upgrade of an existing family home. Our scope included:

• External wall insulation — 100mm EPS polystyrene system across the whole house
• Loft insulation — 300mm mineral wool
• Triple glazed windows throughout
• Wet underfloor heating on the ground floor
• Extension built to match the upgraded thermal envelope of the main house

The homeowners also had a heat pump and solar tiles installed by specialist contractors, making this a genuinely low-energy home overall.

We believe good construction should support good energy performance. That means building carefully, specifying properly, and coordinating every element so the whole project works together.

This project is a good example of how a traditional building contractor can play a meaningful role in the low-energy retrofit journey.
