AECB Member Only Webinar – Zero Carbon Made Easy, The COP26 House

Peter Smith of Homegrown Homes

The AECB will be holding a members only webinar on Friday the 28th of October 12pm-1pm. The subject of this will be Timber Construction and the CoP26 House. Peter Smith will be discussing how the house was designed to showcase how we can meet some of the enormous climate change challenges we now face – using simple, careful and thoughtful designs, that utilise readily available materials and existing skills.

Peter Smith is an Architect, Passivhaus Designer and qualified Carpenter / Joiner. He is passionate about sustainable, sensitive design using natural materials and home-grown timber. He has extensive experience in delivering bespoke house designs and small-scale community developments. Based in Glasgow, he runs the Scotland office for Roderick James Architects.

Peter’s first project with oak-frame house specialists RJA, was to help design and build a small (20 house) community development called Achabeag, on the Sound of Mull. Since then he has worked on many new timber framed homes across Scotland. He is currently working with BSW Timber on several designs for affordable prefabricated houses using home grown timber. Peter became a Passivhaus accredited Designer in 2019 and currently has his first Passivhaus design on site in Ardnamurchan.
