#TDChallenge23 Results Announced

We are proud to present the results of the recent Timber Development UK University Design Challenge. The AECB was proud to support this competition, which brought students from a range of disciplines together to showcase their skills in designing and retrofitting with timber – a sustainable, low-carbon building material.

From over 150 initial registrations, 34 talented students from 22 universities were selected to compete in the finals held at NMITE’s Center for Advanced Timber Technology. The winning team, ‘Hemphasise,’ demonstrated an innovative approach to retrofitting the Widemarsh Cricket Pavilion in Hereford. Their design aimed to transform the pavilion into a flexible learning facility and community hub, emphasising sustainability and using creative strategies to surpass a net-zero carbon goal.

The AECB, recognise the important role of timber in sustainable, low-carbon design, and we take pride in supporting initiatives like the #TDChallenge23. Congratulations to the winning team and all the participants for their contributions to the challenge.
