looking for some information regarding composting toilets.
small site, right next to a river hence flooding risk. No mains drainage, no space to put in a klargester etc.
Is a composting toilet an option? or does the flooding risk mean this is a non starter. If it is an option then are they as simple as they look.
hope someone can help or point me in the right direction
thanks in advance

What is the usage? eg domestic or public loo?
Complete containment possible but you still have to deal with greywater from baths and showers. For sites with no water only needing a loo (eg allotments) we have used antiseptic hand gel just leaving urine to dispose of. Ideally to soakaway but can be contained. (see http://www.natsol.co.uk – NOTE I am a Director so have a vested interest).
Sounds a tight site if no room for a package plant.
If it is a dwelling then I assume effluent has to go to river so probably makes sense to go low flush loos and treat everything to required quality for discharge. I'd be surprisaed if there wasnt a clever way to do this although might need a pump.
