Swaffham Prior has led the way in the UK, to be the first village to develop a rural district heat network powered by a mix of air source and ground source heat pumps to heat up to 300 homes.

The Swaffham Prior Heat Network project was started by Swaffham Prior Community Land Trust, to address fuel poverty and local environmental issues caused by the village’s reliance on oil heating. Together with a ground breaking partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and Bouygues Energy & Services the scheme has been up and running for over a year and continues to inspire communities across the country to think about undertaking similar projects.
